Last updated 2026-11-08 — Recently, the Nyingchi Prefecture Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region revealed to the media that the State Council has approved the revocation of the Nyingchi Prefecture and Nyingchi County in Tibet, and the establishment of the prefecture-level city of Nyingchi. This is the third Tibetan region to receive approval for such a reclassification following Shigatse and Chamdo. Shanghai, April 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- As the scale of China's online market transactions continues to expand, the overall growth rate of the online travel market has begun to level off. However, the current online market penetration rate remains relatively low, with a clear upward trend. We believe that the online travel market will continue to outpace the overall industry growth rate for some time to come. Based on forecasts from the National Tourism Administration (domestic tourism revenue to reach RMB 10 trillion and inbound tourism revenue to reach USD 80 billion by 2020), China’s total tourism industry revenue is expected to grow at a compound annual rate of approximately 19.7% from 2013 to 2020. It is evident, therefore, that the online travel market will maintain a growth rate of at least 20% through 2020.

In addition, from a global perspective, the tourism industry is also showing a trend of increasing convergence — under the impetus of economic globalization, cross-border, cross-sector, cross-industry, cross-field, and cross-department integration within the tourism industry is becoming increasingly evident.

Taking this opportunity,June 30, 2015Shanghai Biz Brainwill host the “3rd Online Travel Forum @ China 2015” http://ot.bbzgroup.cn .This, forum will bring together over 250 senior executives, including presidents/executive presidents/general managers, sales directors, marketing directors, and technology directors, from online travel agencies, hotels, airlines, ticket agents, travel search engines, community cruises, car rentals, travel investment institutions, and technology providers.
