Shopping X Market X Drinks X Inn – An Old Dorm Transformed into a Hipster New Hub

Formerly the Yilan Dormitory of Taiwan Province’s Grain Bureau, Shinong Qing She is a hybrid creative hub that combines a concept store, a wine and dine venue, a backpacker inn, and a market.

The predecessor of Shinong Qing She was a dormitory for the Grain Bureau in Yilan, built in the 50th year of the Republic of China (1961), consisting of seven interconnected brick Western-style houses. Now, its multifunctional setup has breathed new life into this old structure and attracted a steady stream of visitors.

Shinong Qing She connects Yilan’s local farmers, cultural historians, local merchants, and out-of-town travelers through its space design. By providing this platform, it brings everyone together to create a vibrant cultural scene.

The second-floor wine bar at Shinong Qing She, inspired by Shenong Shi, uses seasonal ingredients grown by local small farmers. Not only are the ingredients fresh and supportive of the industry, but you can also enjoy the venue’s self-brewed craft beer while savoring the local terroir in a cozy, homely atmosphere.

As for the concept store, selected under the “Shenong Select” idea, it features locally characteristic brands from Yilan, focusing on cultural creativity, art, and agriculture. It gathers eco-friendly agricultural businesses such as “Liangxin Youdiancai,” creators of unique cement tableware like “Suini Suoyu,” and “MUDSTUDIO” founded by returned artist Yang Haoyu—hoping to nurture even more local culture within the Qing She space.
