Once a typical agricultural village, Gongguan was built on farming. During harvest season, the golden rice stalks ripen in the fields and sway with the wind, creating a sea of golden waves—an incredibly beautiful sight of abundance. Take a weekend and bring your family to visit Gongguan!

Along Taiwan Provincial Highway 6 in Miaoli’s Gongguan Township, hundreds of golden shower trees are planted. From May to July each year, their branches burst with clusters of golden-yellow flowers, resembling a golden rain, further earning Gongguan the nickname "Golden Town."

In Miaoli, tung blossom trees can be found almost anywhere there are mountains. But in Gongguan’s Dalukeng area, there is a “star tree king” among tung blossoms—reportedly, during full bloom, its petal fall can rival that of an entire tung blossom forest. This is a famous tung blossom viewing spot and also home to the scenic al fresco restaurant “Tung Blossom Workshop.”

Along the mountain road in Gongguan, you’ll find signs for “Tongyou Shijie” (Tung Blossom and Persimmon World). Follow the signs through a few fields and you’ll come across the path leading up the mountain. In just about 10 minutes of driving, you’ll reach a spot with a wide-open view that clearly overlooks the roads and bustling streets of the town below.
