Dubbed the most complex steel structure in history, New Yorkers’ version of the Eiffel Tower was completed in mid-March and opened to the public. Climbing up to the observation deck offers sweeping views of the Big Apple.

Located in the Hudson Yards in Midtown Manhattan, New York, Vessel was designed by the British maverick architect Thomas Heatherwick.

Vessel features an exterior that resembles a beehive.
The eight-story Vessel structure has 80 observation platforms, composed of 154 interlocking staircases with a total of 2,500 steps. Travelers can climb staircases at different angles and heights to enjoy views of the city.

Vessel is made up of 154 staircases.
Designed by Thomas Heatherwick, Vessel resembles a giant beehive. Its design draws inspiration from India’s courtyard-style architecture, built with hexagonal units that gradually expand in size from bottom to top, creating a patterned variation.

Vessel is surrounded by surrounding skyscrapers.
The Vessel structure itself consists of 75 prefabricated steel components. It took two years to assemble, then adjust and add other details and landscape arrangements, with spaces created between the staircases for visitors to stroll and socialize.
