Firefly art and culture events are in full swing—Spring Trip subsidies offer five great deals to explore Tainan

The bright and pleasant spring climate of May and June is perfect for travel. The Tainan City Government, in collaboration with the Tourism Bureau’s Spring Trip subsidy program, has launched exclusive benefits. You can enjoy both the subsidy scheme and five great perks. The Tainan Spring Trip subsidies start on May 1.

In May, Tainan offers events such as the Meiling Firefly Season, the Aleurites fordii Flower Season at Hutoupi Reservoir, the Tainan May Music Festival, the Tainan International Dragon Boat Championships, and the newly opened Zuozhen Fossil Park. In June, there's the Tainan International Mango Festival, among others. With new attractions like the National Museum of Taiwan Literature and the Taijiang Cultural Center opening this year, and the Zuozhen Fossil Museum set to reopen in May, visiting Tainan in spring with these subsidies helps you save money.

First Benefit: Independent Travel Incentive

From May to June, stay at participating accommodations on weekdays (Sunday to Thursday) and get a NT$500 discount per room. Youth aged 18 to 40 who stay at classic small-town homestays in the YanShui or Houpi districts can also enjoy an additional one-time NT$500 discount subsidy. Currently, 276 accommodations in Tainan are participating in the Spring Trip program, with 66 offering extra bonus activities.

Second Benefit: Group Tour Incentive
From April 15 onward, join designated travel agency tours to Tainan and enjoy a NT$500 subsidy per person per day. For two-day-one-night tour packages (must include attractions in YanShui or Houpi districts), you’ll get a NT$1000 benefit per person. Currently, seven travel agencies have submitted a total of 17 routes available for registration.

The Tourism Bureau and the Cultural Affairs Bureau have joined forces to launch five extra perks under “Art & Culture Experiences in Tainan, May–June.”

1Perk:Visit four major historical sites in Tainan—Anping Fort, Chihkan Tower, Anping Tree House, and Yi Tsai Jin Cheng—as well as the 1661 Taiwan Ship Park for free on weekdays, saving NT$250. Exploring Tainan has never been easier.
2Perk:Show your Tainan accommodation invoice (receipt) from May to June on a weekday at any of the four major historical sites—Anping Fort, Chihkan Tower, Anping Tree House, Yi Tsai Jin Cheng, or the 1661 Taiwan Ship Park—and receive a limited-edition historical site souvenir (50,000 available). Fun, quirky packaging paired with tasty snacks.
3Perk:Present your accommodation invoice or receipt showing a minimum spend of NT$500 at a Tainan accommodation from a weekday (Sunday to Thursday) in May–June, and register on the Tainan Theme Day official website to enter the draw for grand prizes like round-trip flights to “Tainan–Osaka” or “Tainan–Hong Kong.” Monthly draws offer at least 20 flight packages in total.
