Familiar yet full of “new” elements, letting Mom experience that fluttering heartbeat again and rediscover the feeling of falling in love.

Taipei
The “old-school date” in Taipei is none other than Dadaocheng’s Dihua Street. Stroll among the classic Western-style antique buildings, browse through dried goods from north and south, taste traditional delicacies, and experience the blend of retro and modern culture. Head to Yongle Fabric Mall to pick out a beautiful piece of cloth and have a lovely outfit custom-made for Mom, kicking off your old-school dating itinerary.

And “Snow King Ice Cream,” a shop over 70 years old in Dadaocheng, was a must-visit dating spot for Taipei couples in the past. With over 70 rich and distinctive ice cream flavors, it evokes the sweet, sour, bitter, and spicy memories of love. Or visit the literary-themed “Star Café,” which boasts a décor with unique Russian and Shanghai influences, and was one of the favorite haunts of early writers, painters, and other artists, accompanying countless Taipei residents through their youth.

In the evening, take Mom to dine at “Libra Folk Song Western Restaurant,” where the décor and atmosphere recreate the feel of an 80s Western restaurant, while you immerse yourselves in the songs of that era. The old-school date in Taichung begins with “Guangfu New Village.” The red bricks, weathered walls, and low-rise buildings in the military dependents’ village tell stories of time. After renovation and planning, it has become a cultural and creative art village, with old houses turned into cafés, allowing you to enjoy a leisurely retro afternoon atmosphere. Additionally, you can visit “Taichung Park,” the city’s oldest park, and go boating on the Rìyuè (Sun-Moon) Lake within the park or rest at the historic Lake Heart Pavilion, as if returning to the moment of a past romance.
