The story follows a pair of female con artists, Rihanna’s Daphne Kluger and Anne Hathaway’s character, who spark incredible chemistry. They engage in an elaborate heist competition in a seaside town in southern France. Josephine Chesterfield (played by Anne Hathaway) is a glamorous, seductive, cunning, and manipulative British beauty who owns a luxury mansion in the seaside town of Beaulieu-sur-Mer on the French Riviera, where she scams wealthy men from around the world. Penny Pingleton (played by Rebel Wilson) is a carefree, fun-loving Aussie plus-size girl who scams horny men out of their cash using fake online dating profiles at bars and nightclubs. Josephine poses as a ditzy girl in high-end casinos, swindling lecherous old men out of their valuable diamond necklaces and rings. One day, Penny unexpectedly bursts into Josephine’s thriving con world and tries to take over her turf. Though their con methods differ greatly, both are expert femme fatales who specialize in duping men. With Rebel Wilson excelling in physical comedy and Anne Hathaway being razor-sharp and silver-tongued, the two con goddesses make a bet to settle the score for the turf—they must use every trick in the book and stop at nothing to win the heart and money of an innocent tech billionaire (played by Alex Sharp).

Nurse Liu Yeping (played by Chrissie Chau) reports to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) that rich second-generation heir Cao Yuanyuan (played by Gordon Lam) bribed prison officers while incarcerated in an attempt to get an early release. Senior ICAC investigator Lam Chi-lun (played by Louis Koo) decides to go undercover as a prisoner to investigate, with partners Cheng Deming (played by Gordon Chan) and police Superintendent Lau Po-keung (played by Nicholas Tse) providing support from the outside.
Inside the prison, danger lurks everywhere. Huang Manbin (played by Gordon Lam), a former police superintendent arrested and jailed by Lam Chi-lun five years ago, has built a powerful gang inside and is at odds with Cao Yuanyuan’s crew. He also seeks revenge against Lam Chi-lun and takes the opportunity to seriously injure him during a moment of lax supervision. After recovering and returning to prison, Lam Chi-lun uses the incident to gain Cao Yuanyuan’s trust. Just as he’s about to obtain evidence of the bribe, another crisis looms…
