Jin Yong's Martial Arts Special Exhibition: The Ultimate Duel at Huashan Mountain – Hundred Treasures of the Five Supreme Martial Artists Make Their Taiwan Debut

Jin Yong—widely regarded as a master of modern martial arts fiction—crafted vivid characters against grand historical backdrops, blending Chinese culture and legends from the martial world. His fifteen works, including The Legend of the Condor Heroes, The Return of the Condor Heroes, Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber, Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, and The Deer and the Cauldron, have been immensely popular in the Chinese-speaking world and adapted multiple times into TV dramas, films, and video games, accompanying many through their youth.

Huashan Mountain—the ultimate battleground in Jin Yong’s martial universe. During the first martial arts gathering, five legendary fighters met atop Huashan for seven days and nights, competing for the treasured martial arts manual, the Nine Yin Manual. In the end, Wang Chongyang of the Quanzhen Sect emerged victorious, earning the title “the greatest martial artist under heaven,” and thus the legend of the “Five Supreme Martial Artists” was born.

The "Jin Yong Martial Arts – Duel at Huashan" special exhibition—officially authorized by Jin Yong—is the world’s first large-scale showcase of its kind. Marking the 60th anniversary of The Return of the Condor Heroes, the exhibition focuses on the Condor Trilogy and the Duel at Huashan, inviting martial arts fans and Jin Yong enthusiasts to ride together through the thrilling world he created.

This special exhibition will lead martial arts fans, starting with solving thematic puzzles, step-by-step into the world Jin Yong built—unraveling the mysteries of his martial realm one question at a time. It also aims to gather heroes old and new for tea and reminiscence in a traditional teahouse, dueling alongside Jin Yong’s works at Huashan, keeping the classics alive in our hearts.

For the first time, physical artifacts tracing the legacy of Jin Yong’s novels are on display, including first-issue newspapers from Hong Kong brought to Taiwan, rare out-of-print editions, Jin Yong’s letters and calligraphy, and props such as the Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber from the TV series—nearly a hundred precious exhibits in total. The exhibition also incorporates interactive puzzle-solving, adding brain-teasing fun to the visual experience, and deconstructing Jin Yong’s martial world from various perspectives.
