Two Must-See Firework Shows in Taipei and New Taipei City This Summer: A Romantic Fireworks Music Concert for Qixi (Chinese Valentine’s Day)

Every year on Qixi Festival (Chinese Valentine’s Day), spectacular aerial fireworks displays light up both Dadaocheng in Taipei and Fisherman’s Wharf, dazzling audiences and becoming one of the most anticipated summer events. It's not only a popular date spot for couples, but also a favorite for photographers, families, and friends planning weekend outings. This year, the festivities kick off with a bang on August 3rd and 4th.

The Dadaocheng Qixi fireworks show runs for two consecutive days, August 3rd and 4th, at Yanping Riverside Park. This year’s theme, “A Million Voices Singing Love Songs Together,” features a 360-second performance with appearances by famous singers and bands such as Huang Pin-yuan, Pan Yue-yun, and Eggplant Egg, who will take turns performing love ballads to enhance the romantic atmosphere—making this year’s show even more exciting than previous years.

In addition, the event collaborates with local business districts to roll out a variety of romantic activities. Taipei Underground Mall will host a “Summer Yukata Festival” from August 3rd to 4th, while the Taipei North Gate Camera Association is organizing a “Dadaocheng Valentine’s Photography Contest,” ensuring an unforgettable Qixi experience for all.

The Fireworks show at Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf has been held since 2016 and has grown increasingly popular. This year, the display will light up the seas just off the wooden boardwalk at the wharf on August 4th, featuring a stunning 5-minute-and-20-second show that symbolizes the sweet confession of “I love you.”

Starting in the afternoon on the day of the event, visitors can enjoy lively markets, a pink-themed amusement park, and live performances—creating a riverside atmosphere full of fireworks, music, and beer. From daytime to nighttime, it’s the perfect setting for a romantic Qixi date.
