As the Lunar New Year arrives, various lantern festival displays have been set up across Taiwan, with dazzling lights ready for travelers to snap away during the holiday break. The 2020 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival combines the city’s unique character, integrating the rich features of its mountains, sea, rivers, and harbor into the concept of “Love · Happiness,” creating stunning lantern displays.

The 2020 Kaohsiung Lantern Festival is held from January 29 to February 9 around the areas on both banks of the Love River between Kaohsiung Bridge and Qixian Bridge, developing each thematic event around the ideas of “Double Spring in a Leap Month, Winning Gold and Embracing Joy, Welcoming the International Stage, Love and Happiness.”

Various lantern zones will showcase the harbor vibes of Kaohsiung’s west coast, the refined mountain scenery of the east side, the welcoming of a new dawn (and year of the Rat), and a gathering of cultural heritage, presenting a comprehensive view that uniquely traces the city’s identity.
