Step into the mouth of the dragon or tiger – a wildly unique IG hotspot at Twin Pagodas Pond

Lotus Pond, a well-known Taiwanese tourist attraction in Kaohsiung that is also quite famous in Japan, is one of Taiwan’s largest lakes. From a distance in the lake, you can see the distinctive and huge landmark “Dragon and Tiger Towers,” whose vivid and lifelike appearance has garnered much attention from tourists.

The entrances to the Dragon and Tiger Towers feature giant, hyper-realistic carvings of a tiger and a dragon — incredibly lifelike and spectacular up close or from afar — making them a unique social media photo spot. Many netizens come here especially for photos.

The Dragon and Tiger Towers belong to the Cih Ji Gong Temple directly opposite them. The two towers are designed with vibrant colors to create a visually stunning and unique structure. According to local folklore, “entering through the dragon’s mouth and exiting through the tiger’s mouth” brings great fortune. The special tradition is beloved by Taiwanese visitors and found amusing by overseas tourists.

Each of the Dragon and Tiger Towers has seven stories inside, with visitors allowed access up to the sixth floor to enjoy panoramic views of Lotus Pond. A zigzagging path called the “Nine-Turn Bridge” connects the two towers across the pond, offering various picturesque angles for unique and magical photos.
