The No. 11 typhoon made landfall around 13:00 today (24th) in Manzhou Township, Pingtung County. Its center is currently over Pingtung, moving west-northwest. The land warning was lifted at 23:30 on the evening of the 24th.

By the daytime of the 24th, the storm circle had covered eastern, southeastern, and southern areas of Chiayi in Taiwan, posing threats to regions south of Changhua, Nantou, Hualien, Taitung, the Hengchun Peninsula, Penghu, and Kinmen. Winds and rains continue across various areas.
The Greater Taipei area has been affectedby the outer circulation of the typhoon and terrain influences. Today (24th), there is a higher likelihood of strong gusts. Please stay vigilant. Outdoor hanging objects, signboards, fences, and scaffolding should be securely reinforced, potted plants on balconies should be properly placed, and drainage channels should be cleared.
The radius of the typhoon refers to the average radius. For Typhoon No. 11, the 7-level gale radius in the northwest quadrant is about 120 km, approximately 160 km in other quadrants, with an average radius of about 150 km.
From 00:00 on the 23rd to 16:00 on the 24th, the following areas recorded significant rainfall: Liushishan in Hualien County – 477 mm, Shangli in Taitung County – 380 mm, Xidawushan in Pingtung County – 363 mm, Danda in Nantou County – 222 mm. Areas with notable gusts include: Orchid Island – Force 14, Green Island – Force 12, Dawu – Force 11, Taitung, Anbu, Xinwu, Su’ao, Kinmen, Dongjiyu – Force 10.

On the 25th (Sunday), affected by Typhoon Bailu and its outer circulation, southern and southeastern areas will experience showers or thunderstorms, while other areas may have localized brief showers or thunderstorms, with a chance of heavier rainfall in some spots.

Work and classes suspended on August 25
Taitung, Hualien, mountainous townships in Kaohsiung, as well as Penghu will have work and classes suspended on the morning of the 25th.
Work and classes suspended on August 24
Kaohsiung City – 20:08 announcement that work and classes are suspended on August 24 in six mountainous districts: Liouguei, Jiaxian, Maolin, Taoyuan, and Namaxia; at 20:50, announced work and classes suspended citywide for the 24th.
Tainan City – 20:45announced work and classes suspended citywide for the 24th.
Taitung County – work and classes suspended for the entire day of the 24th.
Hualien County and Penghu County also announced work and classes suspended for the entire day of August 24 after 21:00.

At sea: Vessels navigating or operating in the eastern waters of Taiwan, the Bashi Channel, the Taiwan Strait, and the waters around Pratas Island should exercise extreme caution.
