What kind of technology will shape the future of the apparel industry? If asked this question, we believe every professional in the clothing industry would tell you: the most technologically advanced garments are sportswear. At the “2018 CHIC Fashion Expo” held from March 14 to 16 at the National Convention Center, the “Textile Future Exhibition,” jointly organized by China Textile Information Center, WGSN, and ISPO, provided a direct answer.

At this year’s “Textile Future Exhibition,” the “ISPO Global Design Awards” featured 19 globally awarded apparel products, showcasing five Chinese domestic sportswear brands — “Anta,” “Toread,” “Polarstar,” “CRT,” and “Jeanologia” — along with 12 international sportswear brands. Since its inception, the ISPO Global Design Awards has seen an increasing number of Chinese brands making their mark on the global stage. In 2018, “Polarstar” and “Toread” both won the ISPO Global Design Gold Award. Let’s take a closer look at these two award-winning products.

While showcasing the products, Mr. Wang Yilei, New Business Development Director of ISPO Asia, also shared insights face-to-face with attendees during the “Textile Future Forum” held on the morning of March 16.He introduced the “Three Supers” trends in global functional apparel: “ultra-functionality,” “ultra-lightweight,” and “ultra-natural.”This presentation captured the strong interest of over a hundred audience members. The combination of trends and products vividly demonstrated the cutting-edge nature, innovation, and functionality of sportswear products.

As a leading global sports business platform, the ISPO Expo has evolved today not only to includethree major multi-category exhibitions — ISPO Munich, ISPO Beijing, and ISPO Shanghai— that help companies enhance visibility and build business connections, but also to hostthe ISPO Global Design Awards, ISPO Global Innovation Competition, ISPO Functional Textiles Trend Awards, and ISPO Academy. These initiatives provide knowledge and experience, share industry insights and emerging trends, encourage industry innovation, and drive the development of the sports industry. The ISPO Global Design Awards touring exhibition aims to share and disseminate trends in functional textiles and related innovative products across the industry.

At the upcoming ISPO Shanghai Expo, which will open from July 5 to 7 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, the “ISPO Global Design Awards” will present even more exciting award-winning products. Stay tuned for more details.

With the rise of Made-in-China and Chinese brands, the market for sportswear and functional fabrics and accessories is no longer dominated solely by international players. In an interview with reporters, He Xiaoqing, Project Manager of ISPO Shanghai, stated: “We believe the ‘Textile Future’ is the future of technology and innovation, as well as the future of the sports industry. The functionality of textiles is increasingly valued by consumers, and the continuous application of innovative technologies to enhance textile performance represents a trend both now and in the future.”

As a professional exchange platform for upstream and downstream industry information sharing, ISPO has always been committed to providing a stage for Made-in-China and accelerating the arrival of the future. Therefore, at this year’s ISPO Shanghai Expo, the highly acclaimed“Emerging Brands Zone”will be featured once again, showcasing a new generation of key innovators in China’s sportswear industry.

Additionally, an exclusive“Suppliers Area”will be established to facilitate business discussions on professional functional fabrics, accessories, and production supply chain procurement within the sportswear industry.
