Kawaii art by Jimmy Liao meets a sea of flowers—limited-time thousand-sunflower display

Tamsui’s brand-new flower viewing spot “Tamsui Jia Ri Shi Guang Base” is now blooming with radiant sunflowers, complemented by Jimmy Liao-themed art installations. Hurry and snap romantic photos in this floral wonderland during the holiday break.

“New Taipei Jia Ri Shi Guang” is located next to Tamsui Administrative Center Station (V07). Previously showcasing a variety of blooming flowers, it has now added zones of zinnias and sunflowers. The vast golden carpet of blooms and the soft pink of zinnias create a dreamy backdrop for photos.

This time, public art by Jimmy Liao is integrated among sprawling creeping vines, as if cats, fish, birds, squirrels, and rabbits are freely racing through a yellow fairy-tale field. Various flowers such as angelonia, lantana, zinnias, rhoeo, hibiscus rosa-sinensis, and ophiopogon intermedius are arranged to resemble an image of the Danhai Light Rail train.

Currently, the sunflowers have grown up to 100 cm tall and are in full bloom, expected to continue flowering until October. Now is the perfect time to visit. The sea of golden sunflowers lifting their faces to the sky, set against the backdrop of the Danhai Light Rail, offers a uniquely Tamsui urban vibe no matter how you frame your shot.

Zinnias come in a wide array of colors, are highly reproductive, and thrive in intense heat, hence their name referencing their nearly hundred-day blooming period. Now, pink, peach, and orange blooms are flourishing vibrantly, weaving a fantastical scene. The colorful sea of flowers contrasts beautifully with the mountain line of the Danhai Light Rail, blending vibrant hues with blue-and-white tones for a stunning composition.
