The Japanese matcha dessert specialty store “Ichiba Matcha Saro” has introduced four new purple sweet potato series products at its five branches across Taiwan from September 4 to November 17. By blending Taiwan’s Dajia taro with Kyoto Uji matcha from Japan, not only do the flavors complement each other perfectly, but the color combination also exudes a premium feel—perfectly capturing the palates of both matcha and taro lovers, while also delighting those who love to take photos before indulging in their sweets.

All five branches across Taiwan are offering four new purple sweet potato series items, though the Banqiao branch is only offering the “Matcha Taro Daifuku Pancake,” with no other taro-based products. The new “Matcha Taro Daifuku Pancake” features a matcha crust filled with purple sweet potato mash and taro filling—creamy yet not overly sweet. When freshly baked, the warm filling bursts out as if gushing from a volcano, making this comforting treat hard to resist.

The second item in the purple sweet potato series, the “Taro Wish Matcha Latte” and “Taro Wish Hojicha Latte,” are visually stunning. Layers of ingredients create beautiful color blocks, and when drinking, you can first savor the original taste of the matcha or hojicha latte on top, then enjoy it along with the taro mash, purple sweet potato mash, and tapioca sweet potato pearls beneath—offering a variety of textures that are both creamy and chewy, layered and rich.

The third item, the “Taro Wish Sundae,” is made with over ten ingredients. The bottom layer is a tangy cranberry jelly, topped with smooth taro mash, crispy chocolate chips, golden sweet potato tapioca pearls, candied chestnuts, matcha warabi mochi, purple sweet potato mash, tangy maple jelly, matcha ice cream, and hojicha ice cream. It’s finished with a drizzle of brown sugar syrup, offering a taste of multiple autumnal ingredients in one go.

Finally, there’s the “Taro Wish Set,” which includes one Matcha Taro Daifuku Pancake, one Taro Wish Latte, originally priced at NT$190. With generous portions, it’s available at a set discount price of 12% off, allowing you to savor these popular fall purple sweet potato desserts and enjoy these seasonally limited treats.
