Typhoon Faxai (No. 15) forms as unstable weather with heavy rain expected across Taiwan this weekend

Typhoon Lingling continues to move northward toward South Korea, bringing intermittent rain to northern and northeastern Taiwan due to its outer circulation. Meanwhile, Typhoon Faxai (No. 15) has formed over the sea northeast of Guam. The weekend weather will be unstable, with localized showers and thunderstorms across Taiwan.

Typhoon Lingling (No. 13), located 420 kilometers northeast of Taipei at 6 a.m. on the 6th, will accelerate and move toward South Korea. Typhoon Faxai (No. 15) has formed over the sea northeast of Guam and is expected to move toward Japan, posing no impact on Taiwan.

Influenced by the peripheral cloud bands of the typhoons, the northern and northeastern parts of Taiwan will still experience intermittent rain during the first half of the day on the 6th. Additionally, affected by a low-pressure system southwest of Taiwan, central and southern regions will have localized brief showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. In the afternoon, convective activity may also lead to brief thunderstorms across the island, with localized heavy rainfall possible. Be sure to carry rain gear and stay safe when going out.

Although the typhoons have moved away from Taiwan, there is still a chance of high waves along the eastern and southern coasts, outlying islands, and the northern coastline. Exercise caution during seaside activities. Furthermore, ultraviolet levels on outlying islands such as Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu, as well as in northern and eastern Taiwan, reach excessive levels—take extra care with sun protection when going out.
