In response to the approaching Typhoon Mitag and to ensure visitor safety, New Taipei City Tourism Bureau has announced the temporary closure of Shifen Waterfall Park on September 30. The reopening date will be announced later depending on recovery progress after the typhoon warning is lifted. In addition, Yunxian Resort will be closed on September 30.

During the typhoon, the public is advised to stay safe and avoid visiting alert areas. This especially includes mountainous regions (such as Wulai, Ruifang, and Shifen scenic areas), coastal areas (including Yehliu Scenic Area and Tamsui), and Bitan Scenic Area, where heavy rainfall may cause sudden water level surges. Please avoid these areas.

Visitor service centers under the jurisdiction of New Taipei City, as well as visitor centers in various scenic areas (including Ruifang, Shifen, Bitan, and Wulai) and the facilities within the Houtong Coal Mine Museum Park, will close in accordance with New Taipei City’s work and school suspension notices.

The Shen’ao Railway Bike (RailBike) will also suspend operations in line with work and school suspension notices. Visitors are advised to pay attention to typhoon alerts and the latest work and school suspension updates. Forest recreation areas and coastal scenic spots in eastern Yilan and Hualien are also under alert — please avoid visiting these areas.
