In preparation for flood prevention, the Taipei City Government has begun evacuating 10 wharf approach bridges, 7 pontoon docks, and 68 landscape toilets in the city. The evacuation started at 12 noon on September 29 and must be completed by midnight on the same day.

The Taipei City Water Resources Department pointed out that according to the "River Management Act," to avoid compromising flood prevention safety, containers, portable toilets, construction equipment, vehicles, and other items within river areas must be completely evacuated when a typhoon strikes. During the evacuation period, construction companies will deploy large crane trucks to remove facilities. The public is advised not to enter safety perimeter zones out of curiosity to ensure their own safety.

Additionally, the Water Resources Department will pre-position equipment such as pumps and generators at low-lying areas and locations with high flood risk by 10 a.m. on Monday, September 30, to be on standby. In case of torrential rain, they can be immediately activated to prevent flash flooding.

Evacuation gates along Taipei’s rivers will be closed on September 30. From 8 p.m. on September 29, a “vehicles allowed to exit only” control measure will be implemented in river areas. Roads with red or yellow lines wider than 8 meters near the evacuation gates will allow conditional parking, and roadside parking fees in these areas will be suspended. Vehicles must no longer be driven into river areas for parking, and those already parked there should be moved earlier.
Tourist attractions in New Taipei, Keelung, Yilan, and other areas have also been closed early in response to Typhoon Mitag. New Taipei will also implement vehicle evacuation measures along the riverside. Please pay attention to relevant typhoon prevention regulations and remind one another.
