With its stunning mountains and waters, Hualien boasts numerous world-class attractions. The county government has been sparing no effort in promoting tourism. Recently, a series of large-scale events have taken place, making the "backcountry" vibrant and colorful, while also warmly welcoming visitors with its rich and diverse charm.

 

The “Pacific Hualien Flower Festival,” held from October 11 to November 30, is a visual feast that combines technology, light, sound, and lasers. Every evening from 6 PM to 10 PM during the event period, nine major flower-themed light zones are set up in the Yangguang Power City area of the Sixth Redevelopment Zone, showcasing colorful and dazzling light sculptures.

There’s also a glow-in-the-dark children’s playground and an interactive flower path on-site, guaranteeing endless fun for kids. One of the highlights is the sea of over 2,000 bioluminescent rice flower stalks (I Love Hualien), which creates a dreamy and spectacular scene resembling a fairyland, turning Hualien into a beautiful nighttime urban garden.

Just as you’re savoring the “Pacific Hualien Flower Festival,” the “Pacific Hot Spring Flower Parade Carnival” is right around the corner. On November 23 from 6 PM to 10 PM, a grand carnival that blends hot spring themes with flower parades will take place, featuring a total of 42 flower floats and parade groups.

For the fourth time, the festival invites Japan’s Iwate Prefecture Morioka Mountain Float, Sansasa Dance Troupe, and Sawame Lion Dance Troupe to perform live. The street parade winds through Hualien City’s most bustling Golden Triangle district, where the energetic and festive atmosphere makes Hualien even more enchanting at night.
