The Tai Ba Wang people belong to the Amis tribe of the central Xiuguluan region. The word "Tafalong" refers to an ancient tribal settlement. Each August, they celebrate the harvest festival to give thanks for the bounty of their beautiful rice fields. Travelers passing through this area will feel their souls nourished by the ancient Amis culture, which has been shaped by the land itself. Through the in-depth guided tour provided by local youth Xiao Mingshan, a descendant of the Tai Ba Wang tribe who returned to his roots, visitors can gain a deeper appreciation for the community's passion for this land.

Located at a low elevation, Danongdafu Plain Forest Park has been developed with low-density planning since its opening in 2011. Its ecological resources have become increasingly abundant over time. During the day, you can often spot the Taiwan blue magpie, a rare endemic subspecies of bird, and enjoy cycling along the country’s longest forest bike trail.

Hidden for 20 years without development, the secret spot "Jilitan" at the foot of Mashishan Mountain in Guangfu Township has been revitalized through renovations by the township office and the Council of Agriculture’s Soil and Water Conservation Bureau. With well-maintained lawns, stone-lined areas, scenic spots like the Moon-Reflecting Arch Bridge and Penglai Fairy Island, it has shed its former mystery to become a new recreational destination in Hualien—and the fifth pearl at the foot of Mashishan Mountain. The five pearls of Guangfu Township are: North Jilitan, South Forest Park, East Laso’ai, West Matai’an, and Central Sugar Factory.

The renowned Matai’an Wetlands in the valley region lie at the foot of Mashishan Mountain. This natural swamp wetland features continuous springs that bubble up from underground. The varying depths of streams and springs nourish the vibrant life within this marshland. In summer, you can even see blooming lotus flowers, making it a perfect spot for family outings and leisurely walks.
