Kenting isn’t just about beautiful seascapes — there are also many vast, healing grasslands in the area that are perfect for relaxation.

1. Shuiwa Cave Grassland
Hidden along Provincial Highway 26, this tribal community “Shuiwa Cave Ecological Village” in Kenting lies between Longpan Park and Fengchui Sand. What was farmland a century ago has gradually been replanted with forage grass. In summer, the grassland turns lush green, resembling the pure, boundless prairie scenery of New Zealand under blue skies and white clouds. By winter, it slowly fades into earthy tones of yellow and brown, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot Formosan sika deer.

2. Longpan Grassland
Traveling north along Jia’e Highway along the east coast from Eluanbi, you’ll find an expansive grassland by the Pacific Ocean that’s truly uplifting. The vast grassland, with no obstructions or light pollution, is a popular spot for watching sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing. It turns a withered yellow in winter, but because it sits on a coral reef limestone terrace, be mindful of your footing due to the cliffs, sinkholes, and gullies formed in the terrain.

3. Longzipu Grassland
Longzipu Grassland is pastureland managed by the Livestock Research Institute under the Council of Agriculture. From April to October each year, when forage grass thrives, frequent grazing and harvesting keep it an emerald green carpet, giving visitors the feel of a northern prairie. It’s not only a popular wedding photoshoot spot for locals, but also served as a filming location for the classic Taiwanese movie “Cape No. 7.”

4. Kenting Ranch
Kenting Ranch is located on a large grassland at the foot of Dajianshan Mountain. Grazing is practiced here, and along the walking trail, you can see cattle leisurely munching on grass. The ranch is separate from the retail outlet, but there’s a Kenting Ranch Cooperative that sells milk, grass juice, goat milk, ice cream, popsicles, and other dairy products — perfect for families and friends to enjoy nature and fresh milk.
