As the weather turns cooler and autumn arrives, the persimmons in Beibu, Hsinchu County, are ripe and red—plump and sweet. Many tourists flock here for them. But not far from Beibu, there’s a hidden metasequoia wonderland that has gone viral online, resembling Nordic lakes and mountains that captivate the heart.
Six Ponds Mirror Metasequoia
Located in Dahu Village, Beibu, the “Liutang Leisure Valley” features six large ponds lined with 16 metasequoia trees along the shores. The water reflects the trees, creating a unique “mirror metasequoia” landscape. In autumn, you don’t have to worry about crowds ruining your photos, and you can also see nearby farmers drying persimmons, adding a lively, fruitful atmosphere to this serene and beautiful scene.

Typically, the peak viewing season for Liutang’s metasequoias runs from autumn through the Lunar New Year, but the area offers different scenery year-round, providing unique experiences. As seasons change, the treetops gradually shift colors like nature’s magic—especially in autumn and winter, when the metasequoias turn from green to yellow and red. Paired with their reflections on the water, it creates an illusion of being in Scandinavia.
Persimmon farms can be seen near the Liutang metasequoias.
Besides the postcard-worthy metasequoia views, the area also features Beibu Liutang Stone Persimmon Products. There are persimmon orchards that grow stone persimmons, and every autumn when the strong winds blow, they start sun-drying persimmons. The orchards are open for visitors to buy persimmons, and regular persimmon farmer experience camps are also held.
