The dazzling “Colorful Life · Family Yoga Class” Makes Its Debut at Shixiang Lake – 50 Parent-Child Families Show Off Yoga in a Sea of Flowers

        In the warm spring of March, when flowers are in full bloom, on March 17, the “Colorful Life Season” and “Colorful Life · Family Yoga Class” of the 2019 Poly Shixiang Lake Tulip Tourism Festival, jointly organized by Poly Shixiang Lake and co-hosted by the Chengdu Yoga Industry Association, officially kicked off at the Shixiang Lake scenic area. Fifty parent-child families gathered at the scenic spot to enjoy parent-child happy times amidst the forest, flower fields, and lakeside.

Launching a New Way of Colorful Living

The Poly Shixiang Lake scenic area is located in Pujiang County, Chengdu, and is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, covering a total area of 12,000 mu. It boasts two major lakes, Miaoyin Lake and Shixiang Lake, with a forest coverage rate of over 90%. Its exceptional natural ecology is like a piece of jade inlaid on the Chengdu Plain.

Leveraging its unique resource characteristics, the scenic area integrates world-class premium flowers with outdoor gardening to create an extra-large, fully outdoor premium flower destination. Based on blooming seasons, it carefully designs various themed flower festivals across the four seasons. In spring, there’s the Shixiang Lake Tulip Tourism Festival; in summer, the Shixiang Lake Sunflower Tourism Festival; in autumn, the Shixiang Lake Lily Tourism Festival; and in winter, the Shixiang Lake New Year Flower Exhibition. In addition to early spring tulips and daffodils, visitors can also enjoy festive red lanterns, Chinese knots, and lively New Year activities.

As the star of this season’s flower festival, tulips naturally take center stage. Planted in a pure outdoor natural environment, vast expanses of high-quality, high-beauty tulips form a sea of color. Currently in peak blooming season, there are over 200 varieties, including solid and bi-colored, bright and richly toned blooms. Notably, Shixiang Lake was among the first in China to introduce tulip bulbs from the Netherlands and engage in large-scale outdoor cultivation and display. Since the inaugural Shixiang Lake Tulip Festival in 2002, it has been successfully held for 18 consecutive years. The Shixiang Lake Tulip Festival has become both a hallmark and a shining image calling card for the scenic area.

Of course, Shixiang Lake offers more than just tulips. Daffodils, violet flowers, Icelandic poppies, German irises, and snapdragons will also bloom simultaneously or in succession from March to May. As a comprehensive tourist destination, Shixiang Lake, centered around its forest-lake-flower resources, continues to enhance its infrastructure and introduce more experiences on the basis of large-scale outdoor sightseeing, enriching visitors’ “Colorful Life” at Shixiang Lake!

Following the 2016 inaugural “Flower Sea Buddhist Realm” Forest Yoga and Meditation Retreat and the 2017 Shixiang Lake Forest Mass Yoga Challenge, on March 17 this year, Shixiang Lake once again seamlessly blends the element of yoga with its natural landscape, warmly launching the “Colorful Life” Family Yoga Class. Numerous visitors, while enjoying the pleasure brought by the natural scenery, also embraced an aerobic, healthy, and heartwarming lifestyle.

Yesterday morning, 50 parent-child families recruited by the Chengdu Yoga Industry Association gathered at the Shixiang Lake scenic area. With flowers as the medium and love as the guide, they enjoyed parent-child happiness through interactive experiences such as practicing yoga together, admiring the blossoms, and taking creative group photos in specially designed frames.

“I like it here, but I like coming to play with mommy and daddy even more,” said Tongtong, a 6-year-old girl who participated in the event. She often practices yoga with her mom at a studio, but this was her first time doing yoga outdoors with her mom. She found it both novel and special. “Every photo we took here is an amazing shot!” Additionally, the leading yoga instructor noted that this event was a rare experience — not only allowing participants to benefit from the natural advantages of the outdoors to feel more mentally and physically relaxed, but also helping to strengthen parent-child relationships and emotions. “For all the families here, it’s an unforgettable memory.”

As the breeze blew, colorful tulips swayed gently, accompanied by the fragrance of flowers in the air. Many visitors stopped to watch the parent-child yoga interactions. Even young men and women eagerly joined in, stretching alongside everyone to experience this new form of modern fitness. Laughter and joy, along with spreading familial love, affection, and friendship, filled the entire scenic area.

In addition, to meet the needs of various yoga enthusiasts and outdoor fitness lovers, Poly Shixiang Lake leveraged its resource advantages during the “Colorful Life Experience Season.” In collaboration with the Chengdu Yoga Industry Association and the Chengdu Yoga Industry Alliance, it proudly launched the “Colorful Life · Premium Yoga Class.” Not only will interactive classes be held on March 23, 30, April 6, 13, 20, and 27 within the scenic area, but nationally renowned yoga instructors will also be invited to provide free lessons to visitors at the site.
