The organizing committee of the 2019 Beijing International Long-Distance Running Festival – Beijing Half Marathon held a press conference at China World Hotel in Beijing on April 2, announcing that the 2019 Beijing International Long-Distance Running Festival – Beijing Half Marathon will start at 9:00 AM Beijing Time on April 14 (Sunday). Generali China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. appeared at the press conference as the event’s sole official insurance provider. During the event, a representative from the organizing committee introduced the 2019 race details, showcased the official race apparel for the 2019 Beijing International Long-Distance Running Festival – Beijing Half Marathon, unveiled the finisher medal, and launched the inaugural stamp collaboration between the Beijing Half Marathon and China Post.

The Beijing International Long-Distance Running Festival – Beijing Half Marathon evolved from the Beijing Victory Cup Citywide Running Race (also known as the Beijing Spring Long-Distance Running, or simply “Beijing Run”), and is jointly organized by the Chinese Athletics Association and the Beijing Municipal Sports Bureau, with the Beijing Sports Competition Management Center as the executive organizer. It has a history of 63 years. As a long-standing sporting event with significant international influence, the Beijing Run has always garnered considerable attention. This year’s edition includes two categories: the half marathon and the family run, with a total participant limit of 20,000. The route starts at Tiananmen Square, ends at the Celebration Plaza in the central area of the Olympic Park Landscape Avenue, and passes through districts including Xicheng, Dongcheng, and Chaoyang. Based on past experience, this year’s event has seen enhancements in route planning, event services, and supply provisions.

As public living standards and health awareness improve, sports have gradually gained more attention. Among various sporting activities, city marathons have become a popular choice due to their large participant base and broad appeal. For city marathons, the first priority should always be safety and risk protection for participants—after all, safety is paramount in any sport. In this context, the importance of insurance becomes evident. For both the 2018 and 2019 editions of the Beijing Run, Generali China Life was appointed as the exclusive insurance provider. In 2018, Generali China Life offered comprehensive, wide-ranging, and high-coverage protection, making the event safer. This not only safeguarded athletes and staff, but also demonstrated the company’s strong sense of social responsibility.

Founded in 2002, Generali China Life Insurance Co., Ltd. is a joint venture between Italy’s Assicurazioni Generali and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). It was the first Sino-foreign joint venture insurance company approved after China joined the World Trade Organization. Currently, Generali China Life has a registered capital of 3.7 billion yuan and total assets of nearly 60 billion yuan, making it one of the largest joint-venture life insurance companies in China. The company offers life insurance, health insurance, accident insurance, investment-linked insurance, and group employee benefit plans. It operates 14 branches across Guangdong, Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu, and other regions, and boasts 17 years of development history.

In addition to providing insurance coverage to the public, Generali China Life also demonstrates strong social responsibility and care. In recent years, particularly in the realm of sporting events, Generali China Life has successfully provided comprehensive insurance protection and professional services for sports enthusiasts at numerous events, including the Kunlun Bank Cup Football Tournament, the “Reading Moves Yangcheng” charity walkathon, the Generali China Life “Super Dads” family fun run, and the Spartan Race Shanghai. These efforts have allowed participants to fully enjoy the pleasure of sports. With extensive experience supporting various sporting events, Generali China Life is expected to deliver another satisfying performance at the 2019 Beijing International Long-Distance Running Festival – Beijing Half Marathon.
