Last updated 2026-11-09 — On June 14, 2019, the "One Yuan Public Welfare Tour to Hami" event was officially launched in Hami City. Organized by the People's Government of Hami City, the event aimed to create a new image of "Silk Road Famous City · Sweet Hami" through a combination of tourism and public welfare.

Hidden within the bustling city, these retro Hong Kong-style old shops preserve the soul of this vibrant metropolis. The warmth of the place and the flavors of everyday homes can only be rediscovered here—these six must-visit Hong Kong food spots come highly recommended to everyone!

√ Natural Coconut Delights

This is the only shop in all of Hong Kong that creatively uses fresh, natural coconuts in so many ways. With a 50-year history, locals love to talk about this place, and even Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star hotels favor it. Everyone loves its pure, additive-free flavor!!

The owner rises early every day to press coconut juice, prepare secret sauces, steam coconut cakes, and more—all done by hand, maintaining the same dedication for decades, earning an outstanding reputation.

Highly recommended is their premium coconut glutinous rice cake, made from fresh coconuts, bursting with rich coconut aroma. It contains no preservatives, so it’s best enjoyed fresh.

Besides the coconut cakes, the sauces are also handmade by the owner using quality ingredients. Especially recommended is the curry sauce—perfect for making your own curry chicken or noodles at home.

Shop Address: Shop 46, 46 Mabuhay Road, North Point (Turn right after exiting Exit A4 of North Point MTR Station — opposite Mabuhay School Lane)

√ Kam Kee Café

Established in 1967, this long-standing cha chaan teng is a great choice because almost every dish is a hit. Even older generations of Hong Kong locals love dining here.

Their iced lemon tea is highly recommended—it’s arguably the best you’ll find in Hong Kong, far surpassing those trendy photo spots.

The curry chicken chop noodles feature tender chicken chops and a rich, flavorful curry sauce—the pairing is perfect. Also, don’t miss the nostalgic fried chicken leg, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, large in size and bursting with juice. It’s a must-order every time!!

Shop Address: Shops D & E, G/F, Hang On Building, 6-18 Tin Lok Lane

√ Royal Delicacies Pastry

The top choice for local Hong Kong souvenirs and gifts. As a traditional pastry shop built on craftsmanship, Royal Delicacies is not to be underestimated. Their products have even passed the latest ISO22000 national food safety certification, ensuring exceptional quality.

I’m particularly fond of their twelve flavors of egg rolls, crispy biscuits, and shortbread. As a pastry enthusiast, I value texture, and theirs—made with no added flavorings or preservatives, using only natural ingredients—delivers a rich, satisfying bite.

Recommended are the Fun Egg Roll series (especially the Earl Grey flavor, which has a delicate tea aroma), and the Royal Gold Shortbread (with salted egg yolk flavor)—bursting with savory umami, not greasy, and offering a delicate crumbly texture from the salted egg yolk. A must-try for salted egg yolk lovers!

Shop Address: Tsim Sha Tsui Flagship Store: G/F, 43 Granville Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong

Causeway Bay Branch: G/F, 40 Lee Garden Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

√ Kung Wo Tofu Factory

This nearly 60-year-old Michelin street snack shop still uses a stone mill to grind soybeans, preserving the most authentic, rich taste of soy—truly rare.

Every time I visit Hong Kong, I make sure to stop here for a bowl of silky smooth tofu pudding, which melts in your mouth with a strong bean flavor. Sprinkle some brown sugar powder on top for extra sweetness. Their tofu and soy milk are also worth trying.

Shop Address: 118 Pei Ho Street, Sham Shui Po

√ Everton Dai Pai Dong

If you want to experience authentic Hong Kong home-style cooking, then this old-school “old-school” spot is definitely your top choice. With over 60 years of history, Everton may not have fancy decor, but the food is incredibly authentic and delicious.

We ordered several dishes and they were all great—like stir-fried clams with black bean and chili, salt and pepper squid, and black pepper beef cubes with potatoes. All ingredients were fresh, portions generous, and cooking just right. You can definitely eat to your heart’s content here.

Shop Address: Shop C1, 1 Shek Kip Mei Street, Shek Kip Mei (MTR Sham Shui Po Station Exit A2)

In these old shops, seek nostalgia, savor deliciousness, rediscover memories, and experience the authentic lifestyle of Hong Kong.
