From June 20 to 23, the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Industry Exhibition (abbreviated as the "Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show"), a professional outdoor exhibition tailored for the Asia-Pacific region established by Nanjing Ningfei Company based on years of experience organizing outdoor shows, was grandly held at the Nanjing International Expo Center. With exploration, cross-sector integration, innovation, and sharing at its core, the event built a diverse, professional, precise, and creative exhibition for the industry.
Summit support, professional upgrade
In the two days before the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show, namely June 20–21, the 2019 Asia-Pacific Sports Industry Summit was held at the Nanjing International Expo Conference Center. This summit gathered industry leaders from both domestic and international arenas, focusing on themes such as sports-themed towns, youth sports training, corporate environmental and social responsibility, opportunities brought by the Winter Olympics, skiing and tourism, development of extreme sports, challenges and opportunities in the outdoor market, specialized outdoor materials, accurate weather forecasting, branded events, and empowering running groups. Discussions spanned sports, winter sports, outdoor activities, and running, exploring the future trends of industry development, deeply analyzing core issues faced by the industry, and seeking effective solutions.
Carrying the concept of “outdoor”+through to the end, building a diversified exhibition
The mass appeal of outdoor sports has driven the continuous expansion of the consumer base while also accelerating changes in the demands of the outdoor market. The diversified development of “outdoor+” has become mainstream, and traditional boundaries have gradually been broken. The 2019 Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show also reconstructed a diversified “outdoor+” exhibition from a brand-new perspective. By integrating related sectors such as tourism, running, fashion, winter sports, and fishing, and collaborating with brands and event organizations, various specialized zones and themed activities were presented on-site. These included an outdoor travel lifestyle zone that integrated travel methods, product displays, homestays, route recommendations, and camp education sharing; the IN!OUTDOOR Trend Function Release Area, which showcased functional and fashionable products from the outdoor and sports industries; and the Sea Fishing Interactive Exhibition Area, which created a fishing scene and displayed offshore fishing gear.
For the winter sports sector, the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show not only invited industry leaders to share successful experiences and discuss development opportunities in the southern China winter sports market at the 2019 Asia-Pacific Sports Industry Summit but also partnered with BOOMSKI to gather global snow resources on-site.
Moreover, this year’s Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show also paid attention to broader areas of sports, incorporating related product displays and activity experiences on-site, such as fencing experiences, roller skating training, floorball shooting experiences, motorcycle stunt performances, and sports rehabilitation training.
44Forty award-winning products from the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Innovation Awards, highlighting innovation
The Asia-Pacific Outdoor Innovation Awards is an industry selection aimed at uncovering innovations and recommending quality products for the global outdoor and sports industries. This year, a total of 44 products that excelled in innovation, functionality, design, and fashion trends stood out and won awards in categories including Design Award, Classic Design Award, Running Product Award, Women’s Product Award, Environmental Protection Award, and Functional Trend Award. On June 20, the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Innovation Awards ceremony was grandly held on the stage area of the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show. All winning products were also prominently displayed at the entrance of Hall 4, providing visitors with the opportunity to closely experience top-tier outdoor products.
Supporting environmental protection and public welfare, laying out for industry upgrade
The Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show has always been proactive in focusing on and participating in environmental protection. At the 2019 Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show, there were many products and interactive activities related to environmental themes. For example, the “Xun Guang” vintage lamp by SLR, made from recycled outdoor gas canisters; PrimaLoft® sustainable and environmentally friendly materials; and the concurrent 2019 Asia-Pacific Sports Industry Summit, which invited industry leaders to engage in high-level dialogues on corporate environmental and social responsibility, jointly exploring the importance of environmental protection to the development of the outdoor industry and bringing new opportunities for the industry.
Regarding public welfare activities, the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show also worked with numerous brands to promote awareness and participation. During the 2019 Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show, themed products and activities such as the Black Deer xs animal-themed water bottles advocating for animal protection, the INUK “Color the Love” graffiti backpacks, the live broadcast of the “Hand-Crank China” public welfare project focusing on dream journeys for special communities, and the “Let Migratory Birds Fly” wild bird rescue training all made their appearances, aiming to contribute to the public welfare cause.
At the exhibition site, we also discovered that some outdoor brands incorporated traditional cultural concepts into their product designs. For instance, the KAILAS Kaithar ultra-light climbing helmet (collaboration edition: Descendants of the Dragon) displayed in the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Innovation Awards exhibition area perfectly combined Eastern culture with professional climbing gear; LOWA integrated a single element of Chinese architectural design into its shoe designs; and ALOCS’ small snow stove... Beyond products, the Shige Channel hosted the “200 Years of World Outdoor Sports Exhibition” on-site, using precious items such as paintings, photos, and stamps to showcase the long-standing outdoor culture to enthusiasts. Additionally, the Happy Tea House returned to Nanjing with the theme of “return,” offering attendees a cup of tea and a space for rest and conversation.
Mountain & River Market, offering a one-stop experiential event
This year’s Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show was not only open to professional audiences within the industry but also set up the Mountain & River Market for the general public of outdoor sports enthusiasts and consumers, providing opportunities to purchase outdoor gear and pairing it with a series of outdoor experience activities. The goal was to build a one-stop platform for experiencing the outdoor lifestyle.
At the exhibition site, the comprehensive sports zone covered product displays and experience activities in sectors such as running, fitness, winter sports, and water sports; the four-day Demo Rides ride event in collaboration with mars provided biking enthusiasts with the chance to test-drive luxury bikes; the KAILAS CUP Amateur Climbing League was also officially launched on-site, allowing climbing enthusiasts to compete and exchange together; “Ji Miao Kitchen” host Dawei and Fire-Maple held an outdoor gourmet class on-site; the children's balance bike competition beloved by parents and kids—the Hilioner Urban Star Cup TIGER CUP and the offline selection event for the Flying Crane program “Little Riders, Go!” (Nanjing stop)—also heated up at the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show on June 22–23.
Resource connection, exhibition interconnection
As always, the 2019 Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show provided e-commerce matchmaking services. The cross-border e-commerce special session attracted resources from platforms such as eBay, AliExpress, Shopee, Wish, and Amazon. The business matchmaking session saw the participation of platforms including Suning Sports, Pinduoduo, Qijiayier, Secoo, Dangdang, Yunji, Sanfo Outdoor, and Orenda, offering brand owners, buyers, and platforms efficient opportunities for trade cooperation.
In terms of cooperative promotion, besides maintaining friendly and in-depth collaborations with industry media and mass platforms, the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show this year built an online exhibition platform with Guangdian Mao Mao, and co-created a digital live broadcast studio with Letang Culture on-site to shape the concept of “live streaming + content + e-commerce,” ushering in the Exhibition 5.0 model.
The 2019 Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show, held from June 20 to 23 at the Nanjing International Expo Center, was not just a showcase of products and a venue for business discussions—it was also a feast covering brand promotion, technology exchange, and idea sharing. In the future, the outdoor industry will surely develop in the direction of refinement, specialization, and personalization. We look forward to the Asia-Pacific Outdoor Show providing an efficient platform to empower and foster positive development in China’s outdoor industry, and we hope more people will join us.
