It is reported that the competition is based on“alpine skiing+team orienteering,”with teams of three participants each. There are both open and family categories. During the race, participants must find and check in at designated points scattered across different locations on the slopes. The checkpoints are divided into mandatory and optional ones — all team members must complete the mandatory points, while only one member needs to finish the optional ones. The winning team is the one with the shortest overall time.
Alpine Orienteering has no entry barriers, allowing skiing enthusiasts of all skill levels to participate. This marks China’s first original mass-participation skiing event to be“exported”overseas.
