Gathering global resources to develop the ice and snow economy – The Harbin Ice and Snow Expo opens on January 5
As the New Year begins and everything takes on a fresh look, the 2020 Harbin Ice and Snow Expo and the First Harbin Ice and Snow Apparel and Equipment Expo (hereinafter referred to as the “Ice and Snow Expo”), themed “Snow Charm, Stylish Attire, Innovation, Supporting the Winter Olympics,” grandly opened at the Harbin International Convention and Exhibition Center on January 5. The event was hosted by the People’s Government of Harbin, and organized by the Harbin Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Beijing Zhenwei Exhibition Co., Ltd.
During this three-day ice and snow extravaganza, the Ice and Snow Expo promotes the ice and snow economy through exhibitions, new product launches, brand promotions, and fashion shows, adopting a multi-level, all-platform approach to explore the path of ice and snow economic development in Harbin and advance the growth of the ice and snow industry.
Attending the event were Sun ?, Deputy Secretary of the Harbin Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Harbin, Zhang Wanping, Standing Committee Member and Deputy Mayor of Harbin, Wang Jingming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group and Vice Chairman of the Harbin CPPCC, accompanied by Wang Guowen, President of the Harbin Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and Deng Xiaohui, Executive Vice President of Zhenwei Exhibition Co., Ltd.They visited the exhibition together with other distinguished guests.
14 Countries, 8 Major Delegations – Harbin Gathers Global Resources
The exhibits at the Ice and Snow Expo mainly focus on ice and snow sports and apparel, covering an exhibition area of 12,000 square meters, with an internationalization rate of over 40%, and 72% of the booths coming from outside the province.
The ice and snow sports section includes zones for ice and snow equipment, apparel and gear, ski resort peripherals, and amusement facilities; the ice and snow apparel section features nine zones: winter sports clothing, cashmere garments, fur craftsmanship and garments, down garments, and leather and fur garments.
The event attracted more than 300 domestic and international enterprises and key brands from 14 countries and regions including Austria, Sweden, Japan, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, France, South Korea, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Ukraine, Mongolia, and China’s Xinji, to engage in in-depth discussions and exchanges on the latest achievements and technological advancements in the global ice and snow industry. The expo is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors over the three days.
On the enterprise side, the expo brought together representatives from large-scale winter sports machinery and equipment, alpine venue construction, indoor snow creation, and ice and snow industry operation services, such as the Cabrinha Ski Group; as well as 3D printing companies like the Shanghai Manufacturing Innovation Center, which showcased cutting-edge 3D-printed insoles on-site; the Swiss top-tier high-tech sports brand X-bionic presented biomimetic sportswear with a 37-degree constant temperature technology system; and Shengxiang Ski displayed a snow-making machine, allowing visitors to experience indoor snowfall during the exhibition.
Additionally, eight major delegations participated, including industry giants such as Bosideng, the top fur brand Northeast Tiger, SPORTALM, UVEX, REUSCH, Decathlon, Explorer, POC, JULBO, Dennis, Austrian national treasure brand KASTLE, Bombardier, OGK Group, SANFO PLUS, SNOW LAMP, Mingxing Ice and Snow, Zhongxing Gloves, Heilong Ice Skates, Fuwode, Ganmao Snow Dragon, Harbin Sunac Snow World, Yabuli Sunshine Resort, Beidahu Ski Resort, Harbin Mingdu Ski Resort, Hejia Gou Ski Resort, and the Heilongjiang Ice and Snow Industry Research Institute. These participants also received strong support from apparel hubs such as Hongbo Commercial, Xinji, and Qinghe.
Well-known domestic brands such as Qingtou Intelligent, Liangyue Ice Disk, Weihai Kudo, Wandey Motorcycle, PROPRO, Borton, Winter Olympics Snowmaking, and Zhishan Sports also took part in the expo.
Multiple Supporting Events Ignite Winter Passion in the Ice City
As a key component of the Ice and Snow Expo, the supporting events garnered significant attention for their high standards, quality, and professionalism. The main activities at the exhibition site included categories such as “International Ice and Snow Fashion New Product Show and Fashion Show,” “Public Ice and Snow Carnival,” “Ice and Snow Equipment Launch,” and “Brand Promotion Sessions.”
Models from China and abroad strutted down the runway in a variety of outfits, exuding energy and charm to the rhythm of dynamic or graceful music, drawing waves of applause from the audience. Their performances vividly demonstrated the promotion of universal fashion and the allure of Harbin as a fashion capital.
Supporting the goal of “three hundred million people on snow,” it is crucial to promote mass participation in ice and snow sports. During the Ice and Snow Expo, fun activities such as curling experiences and simulated skiing were held.
Enthusiasts learned the sport of curling without ice, which is simpler and more accessible than ice curling, helping to expand its participant base and ignite public enthusiasm for ice and snow sports. Many attendees had a great time.
A “big toy” made an appearance at the Ice and Snow Expo: Qingtou Intelligent, a cutting-edge tech company specializing in digital intelligent equipment R&D and production, brought an indoor simulated ski machine weighing over five tons, allowing skiing enthusiasts to fully experience alpine skiing on both skis and snowboards, with a virtually endless slope to quickly master and improve their skills. It truly enables the public to enjoy the fun of snow and ice and participate in winter sports, advancing the goal of getting three hundred million people on snow.
At the brand promotion session, skiwear made with graphene technology, synthetic ice materials that replicate the feel of real ice, and century-old Winter Olympic collectibles captivated the audience through explanations by on-site hosts. The product promotion sessions provided a channel and bridge for companies, giving brands the opportunity to connect with potential partners and promote trade and economic exchanges.
The hosting of the 2020 Harbin Ice and Snow Expo will enhance Harbin’s radiating power, leadership, and influence in the international ice and snow fashion, apparel, and equipment sectors, providing strong support for the successful hosting of the Beijing Winter Olympics and the cultivation of a robust domestic ice and snow consumer market.
