New Taipei Metro’s “Three Rings and Six Lines” construction is progressing steadily. In addition to the New Taipei Circular Line, which is nearing completion, the entirely elevated Sandei Line has reached 36.23% completion and is expected to be finished in 2023. Among them, a one-to-one wooden model train, including interior design elements, has been transported from Spain to Taiwan and has been transformed into a “sleigh” with Christmas decorations. It will be displayed during the New Taipei City Happy Christmas Town event.

The Happy Christmas Town held in Xinzhuang Special Zone attracts large crowds every year. Last year, over 6 million people participated. In 2019, the light projection area expanded to include Banqiao Station, creating the world’s first “Twin Towers and One Tree” setup with an even larger scope. The upcoming New Taipei Circular Line Banqiao Station is also located within the Christmas Town area. Utilizing the future space of the Circular Line Banqiao Transfer Station plaza, a full-scale one-to-one prototype model of the Sandei Line will be displayed, and the model train will be transformed into a sleigh carrying joy.

To create a festive atmosphere, Mayor Hou appeared at the December 14th event wearing a red Santa hat, transforming into Santa Claus to tell stories and hand out gifts. The overall progress rate of New Taipei’s “Three Rings and Six Lines” metro construction plan has reached 82%. In addition to the upcoming New Taipei Circular Line, other lines including the Danhai Light Rail, Ankeng Light Rail, Wan Da Zhonghe Line, and the Sandei Line are all under continuous advancement.

The 14.29-kilometer-long Sandei Line connects with the Dingpu section of the Tucheng Line and extends to link with the Taoyuan Metro routes. The entire line features an elevated design with 12 stations and utilizes a driverless system. Each train has two carriages with a walkway connecting the two, and a total passenger capacity of 330. There will be a total of 29 trains.
From December 14, 2019, to January 15, 2020, the display is open daily from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Along with the exhibition period, there will be storytelling and magic balloon shows. Visitors who take photos for check-ins can also exchange for limited-edition gifts.
