Taiwan High-Speed Rail has planned a 10-day Spring Festival transport service from January 21 to January 30 to accommodate passengers traveling home for family reunions and festive outings. Due to high booking demand, after reviewing capacity scheduling, the company has decided to add 12 extra train services (6 southbound and 6 northbound). Ticket sales will start at midnight on January 2, and travelers planning to return home for the holidays are advised to book early.
During the 2020 Spring Festival transport period, THSR added a total of 436 extra train services (219 southbound and 217 northbound), an increase of approximately 34% compared to regular services. A total of 1,805 services will be available over the 10-day period to better serve the travel needs during the holiday season. As of 8:00 AM on December 31, around 628,000 tickets had been booked.

Based on the travel characteristics during the Spring Festival holiday, THSR has configured some trains with 10-carriage reserved seating (with cars 11 and 12 as non-reserved) during the early morning southbound services on New Year’s Eve, the fourth and fifth days of the Lunar New Year, and late-night northbound services on the fourth day. Passengers are encouraged to take advantage of these options.
Additionally, THSR reminds passengers to book in advance and collect their tickets early so they can go straight to the platform upon arrival, saving time. Those who haven’t purchased tickets yet can check the THSR online booking system, smartphone app, or convenience store ticketing systems for available services on desired dates and times during the Spring Festival transport period, and plan their trips as early as possible.
In line with the consecutive Spring Festival holiday schedule, February 15 is designated as a make-up workday. To meet commuter demand, THSR will add 3 extra northbound services on that day, with ticket sales starting on January 19.
