The first “Straw Art Festival – Animal Hunt” has launched in Fuli Township, Hualien County, with a 6-meter-tall straw gorilla drawing plenty of attention. Giant squirrels and straw wild boars are also among the most popular backdrops for photos.

The Hualien County Fuli Township Farmers’ Association, in collaboration with the Department of Architecture and Art at Chung Yuan Christian University, bamboo weavers from Nantou, as well as local communities and schools in Fuli, have come together to host this event. Visitors are welcome to enjoy the straw art festival, not only for fun photo opportunities but also to explore creative straw art and celebrate Taiwan’s proud rice culture.
This is the first edition of the straw art festival, and the main venue is surrounded by 20 hectares of rapeseed fields, which will bloom around mid-January, offering visitors not just straw art but also beautiful flower seas.
