As the weather gradually cools, many flowers are also blooming with the change of seasons. The cherry blossoms that travelers love to admire each year from winter solstice to spring are quietly blooming on the peaks of Alishan, marking the first wave of mountain cherry blossoms across Taiwan. The blooming period spans from mid-December to late April of the following year.

Cherry blossoms on both sides of the Alishan Highway area have gradually begun to bloom. The pink dogwood cherry blossoms bloomed early in mid-November, while the Kawazu-zakura cherry blossoms on Alishan have been successively blooming since mid-December. Now is the perfect time to head up the mountain to enjoy the cherry blossoms.

Although the number of blooming cherry blossoms is not large at present, as the weather continues to cool, there will be opportunities to admire the spectacular cherry blossom blooms all the way until April next year.

To admire Alishan’s stunning pink Kawazu-zakura, you can drive along Provincial Highway 18 to Xidi, where there is a parking lot opposite the entrance to the Er Yanping Trail.
