Taiwan’s oldest zoo—Hsinchu Zoo—reopened on December 28th after two and a half years of renovation！ The news quickly sparked a wave of online buzz, drawing attention not only from families with kids but also from animal lovers who couldn’t stop sharing photos of the incredibly adorable animals.

A cage-free zoo
For this reopening, Hsinchu Zoo has adopted the concept of “a zoo within a park,” creating a cage-free environment. Its animal-friendly management approach has amazed visitors, allowing them to interact closely with the animals, observe wildlife in their natural state, and enjoy a stroll-in-the-park-like experience.

Zoo library
Breaking with tradition, Hsinchu Zoo has set up a branch of the Hsinchu Municipal Library inside its visitor center. The collection features specially curated books on flora and fauna as well as children’s titles, and displays a variety of animal specimens—making it a veritable paradise of knowledge for kids.

Convenient entry with an EasyCard
To streamline the ticketing process and make visiting easier, Hsinchu Zoo has set up a dedicated EasyCard entrance at Gate 2 (Elephant Gate). Visitors can simply tap their EasyCards to enter, saving time and avoiding long queues.
