As the year draws to a close, the festive Christmas atmosphere fills the air. Nanfang Shopping Mall in East District, Tainan, hosted the "Love Christmas Carnival Month," inviting both kids and adults to celebrate the joy of Christmas. Among the highlights, the popular 2019 Tomica Train Festival took place from December 12 to 25 on the 4th floor of Nanfang Shopping Mall’s Lohas Plaza. This event featured seven themed exhibition areas, numerous limited-edition train models, and a dreamy train scene, inviting everyone to step into the wonderful world of trains.
A specially designed dream-themed train scene was created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Tomica trains.
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of PLARAIL Tomica, the exhibition’s centerpiece features an enormous train display area, along with a custom-built oversized train station. The giant 60th-anniversary station has been reassembled and paired with iconic local landmarks such as Tainan’s Yide Jincheng Fort, Taipei 101, Changhua’s Giant Buddha, and Kaohsiung’s Lotus Pond.
Cute little Tomica trains zip between these famous scenic spots.
Additionally, you can see adorable toy versions of Taiwan’s unique trains and everyday transportation, which are not only easy for kids to play with but also become must-have collectibles for many adults.
A specially made giant red Plarail Super Express train to celebrate the 60th anniversary.
To mark the 60th anniversary of Tomica trains, an exclusive, oversized red Plarail Super Express train model has been created. Kids can walk through and immerse themselves in the experience, while adults can capture this rare sight. During the event, visitors who take photos with it and upload them online can receive an ultra-limited cool conductor’s hat.
A robot assembly challenge area where both kids and adults can engage their hands and minds.
This year, the event has introduced Japan’s wildly popular animated series about transforming train robots. The show not only achieved record-high ratings and sales in Japan but has also become a craze in Taiwan. These trains can run on tracks like regular Tomica models but can also be assembled to transform into super cool robots. The on-site assembly challenge area lets everyone put their hands and brains to work, with limited-edition cards awarded for successful challenges.
The exhibition also showcases many historic PLARAIL toys.
