Qingguang Shopping District was once a hub for imported goods in northern Taiwan, and today it remains one of the key culinary landmarks in Zhongshan District. This beloved dumpling shop, which has been delighting diners for over sixty years, is a childhood favorite for many locals. Today, join us and the HowToTrip editor as we dig in together!
A long-established Shandong-style dumpling house that’s been fragrant in the neighborhood for over sixty years.
Located on Nong’an Street in Zhongshan District, the long-established Shandong Dumpling King is just a stone’s throw away from the bustling Qingguang Shopping District. Parking around here isn’t easy, and finding a seat during meal times is even harder — but this affordable spot is adored by both locals and office workers.
The legendary pan-fried dumplings.
The shop is known for its dumplings and pan-fried dumplings, but word has it that regulars love their Shandong-style roast chicken even more. Unfortunately, the HowToTrip editor couldn’t squeeze in another dish that day and had to save it for next time.
Beef tripe noodles with a pretty good broth.
The pan-fried dumplings were the top priority for the HowToTrip editor this visit. These dumplings, fried golden and crispy on all sides, are rightfully dubbed “pan-fried” — one bite gives you a satisfying crunch on the outside, while the chives and sweet, juicy meat filling burst in your mouth.
The egg drop soup also came with simple greens and daylily buds.
The HowToTrip editor also ordered a bowl of beef tripe noodles and an egg drop soup. The broth of the beef tripe noodles was quite good, and the tripe itself was fairly flavorful, though the noodles were a bit too soft and the texture was just average. The egg drop soup came with some simple greens and daylily buds — a small but comforting winter treat.
