Tongxiao Town is located along the coast of Miaoli. In addition to its stunning coastline, the towering Hutou Mountain within its borders offers a beautiful natural environment. Built in 1937 during the Japanese colonial period, the Tongxiao Shrine in Miaoli’s Hutou Mountain was influenced by Japanese culture, featuring traditional Japanese shrine architecture. The site includes numerous historical relics such as the shrine office, the first torii gate, the temizuya (hand-washing pavilion), the approach path, stone lanterns, the second torii gate, the worship hall, the offering hall, and the main hall.

The coastal charm of Baishatun.
Baishatun, a quiet seaside village located at the northwest end of Tongxiao, sits by the sea. Climb up the embankment decorated with jar walls, and the vast blue sea unfolds before your eyes. Stretching for several kilometers, the coastline is lined with massive white wind turbines standing proudly against the wind, creating a refreshing and uplifting atmosphere.

Love Heart Highway.
The Love Heart Highway is located in Xinpu Li, Tongxiao Town, on the way to the Lengding Fude Temple. To see the Love Heart Highway, look out when approaching the top of the hill—about 500 meters before the temple. Follow a small uphill path that’s walkable, walk about 20 meters, then look back downhill to see the road curving into a perfect heart shape. The endless view before you is also incredibly captivating.

Fuxing Nanhe Bicycle Path.
The Fuxing community near the mountains in Tongxiao features dozens of farms, sightseeing orchards, coffee restaurants, homestays, pottery studios, and natural ecological parks. The bicycle paths here have gentle slopes and well-planned signage, offering picturesque rural natural landscapes at every turn. Low red-brick houses set against lush green rice fields exude a strong sense of simple, leisurely charm.
