Plum and Orchid Appreciation Culture Festival at Zhongshan Park
From March 23 to April 8, 2012, Zhongshan Park will host its first Plum and Orchid Appreciation Culture Festival. Visitors can admire a wide range of prized plum and orchid floral displays in the “Three Friends of Winter – Outdoor Plum Blossom Exhibition Area,” “Elegant Shadows and Slanting Branches – Indoor Plum Blossom Exhibition Area,” “Fragrance All Year Round – Indoor Cymbidium Exhibition Area,” and “Gentleman Among Flowers, The Soul of Chinese Fragrance – Plum and Orchid Culture Exhibition Area.”
Spring Flowers & Tulip Exhibition at Zhongshan Park
Date: Early April to mid-May, 2012
Highlights: 1. Traditional Chinese flowers such as plum blossoms, apricot blossoms, mountain peaches, and peonies, as well as herbaceous planted flowers like yellow daisies, South African marigolds, and pansies.
2. Over a hundred varieties and 300,000 tulips and other bulb flowers blooming successively.
Peony Flower Art Festival at Jingshan Park
The 16th Peony Flower Art Festival at Jingshan Park will be held in late April 2012. The theme of this year’s peony festival is “Dragon Brocade and Fantasy Colors,” where “Dragon Brocade” refers to the Japanese peony variety “Black Dragon Brocade” and “Fantasy Colors” refers to the Central Plains peony variety “Red Dragon Fantasy Colors.” The festival will offer visitors a grand celebration of Sino-Japanese peony culture.
Spring Culture Month at Qiongdao Chunyin in Beihai Park
From April 2 to May 3, 2012, Beihai Park will launch the second edition of the Spring Culture Month series at Qiongdao Chunyin. The park’s themed flower stands, natural flower belts, and distinctive flower pots create a vibrant and flourishing spring landscape, offering visitors a feast for the eyes. Meanwhile, colorful and uniquely shaped exhibition boards will inform visitors of the names, flowering periods, blooming times, and best viewing spots for all flowering plants in the park, helping them choose the optimal routes for an enjoyable spring outing. No additional tickets will be sold during the event, and both annual and monthly passes for residents remain valid.
Hiking Route 2: Beijing Peach Blossom Festival & World Famous Flowers Exhibition at Beijing Botanical Garden ― Shanhua Festival at Xiangshan Park
Beijing Peach Blossom Festival & World Famous Flowers Exhibition at Beijing Botanical Garden
From March 29 to May 13, 2012, the 24th Beijing Peach Blossom Festival will kick off at Beijing Botanical Garden. Themed “In Search of the Peach Blossom Spring of the Soul,” the festival offers visitors a chance to enjoy beautiful natural scenery, a rich diversity of plant species, engaging cultural activities, and exquisitely designed floral landscapes, making it feel as though you’re wandering in an ocean of flowers. During the festival, nearly 1,000 varieties and one million plants (potted) of various flowers will be displayed. Unlike previous years that focused mainly on flower viewing, the 2012 Peach Blossom Festival places greater emphasis on cultural content. Throughout the event, visitors will experience a rich fusion of plant culture, science education, festive culture, and ethnic culture, creating a vibrant cultural celebration. This year’s festival is also one of the 100 cultural activities organized by the Beijing Municipal Parks Management Center for the public.
Shanhua Festival at Xiangshan Park
The 10th Beijing Xiangshan Shanhua Festival & 1st Incense Culture Festival, themed “Spring in Full Bloom – Savoring the Scents of Xiangshan,” will be held from April 1 to May 13, 2012, spanning 43 days. Building on Xiangshan’s traditional spring flower appreciation, hiking, and wellness activities, this year’s festival delves deeper into the cultural essence of Xiangshan, highlighting the theme of “fragrance” culture. It offers visitors a completely new sensory experience through sight, sound, and smell, presenting a shanhua festival that is fragrant, colorful, and rich in culture.
