The 2012 “Wangli Cup” China Formula Grand Prix was recently officially launched in Beijing. As the highest-level formula racing competition in China, the China Formula Grand Prix has been successfully held for six editions. The speed during test races is already becoming evident, with drivers staying calm under pressure
Compared to previous editions, this year’s event features three major highlights: first, the implementation of club-based operations; second, the organizing committee has increased rewards for outstanding drivers and teams; and third, the competition will host various forms of high-level related events.
This year’s competition is divided into four rounds, with the first round kicking off on May 19 at the Guangdong Zhaoqing International Circuit. The Ordos and Beijing rounds will take place in July and August respectively, while the season finale in Chengdu is scheduled for November.
Over 30 drivers are participating in the Guangdong Zhaoqing round, including one as young as 13 years old and veterans with over 30 years of racing experience. Despite the varying ages, this does not affect their dedication to the competition. Whether during test drives, communication with technicians, or the actual races, all drivers strictly adhere to the rules and remain composed, truly showcasing the caliber of CFGP drivers. “Everyone races with good judgment, considering each other’s speed and distance during overtaking and cornering to ensure safety,” said Beijing driver Li Chao in an interview. “I’m happy to be racing against them.”
