The first regional small-scale “International Skiing Culture Exchange” forum is scheduled to take place on June 9, 2012, at the Lijing Grand Hotel in Dalian, the Pearl of the North. The forum will adopt a lecture and interactive format, highlighting the popularization and development of mass skiing.
With its unique charm and unstoppable growth momentum, mass skiing has seen a rapid increase in participants, swift improvement in the technical level of recreational skiers, and a growing demand for professional ski resort personnel — making talent cultivation an urgent priority, especially for high-caliber ski instructors. This forum aims to promote the overall level of domestic mass skiing and establish a communication platform among skiers, ski resorts, and ski instructors. It also seeks to leverage opportunities for mutual learning and inspiration among ski instructors, thereby boosting the overall advancement of mass skiing.
The forum will invite experts, entrepreneurs, and seasoned professionals from both China and abroad to deliver keynote speeches. B. Alward (an examiner of the Professional Ski Instructors of America and a senior instructor in alpine competitive skiing), a veteran ski school management expert with over 30 years of experience at major resorts including Vail / Beaver Creek (the largest ski resort in the U.S.) and Loon (a typical mid-level ski resort in the U.S.);Luo Li, Chairman of Wanlong Ski Resort — a high-end, well-managed, and widely recognized ski destination in China; Ma Chunye, General Manager of Changbai Mountain International Resort Management Company — a dreamlike ski resort and Asia’s most advanced and iconic all-season resort; Xiao Jingge, Chairman of Lvyehuwai.com (China's leading outdoor leisure and self-guided travel platform); and Zhang Yi, a lecturer at the School of Physical Education at Jilin University and an invited trainer for the Chinese Ski Association’s special training team.
The rapid development of mass skiing in China shows that its true driving force and key strength come from the public, and that grassroots momentum represents new hope for the future of the skiing industry. Topics of the lectures will include “Promoting Mass Skiing – The Power of the Public,” “Expectations of Ski Resorts for Advanced Instructors,” “Ski School Management – Presented by a Senior American Ski School Director,” and “The Aspirations of Ski Club Enthusiasts for Higher Technical Levels.”
This event is a milestone in the history of mass skiing development in China, representing a new direction and chapter for the sport. This gathering will further promote the widespread adoption of mass skiing, laying the foundation for future forums with more specialized topics such as ski school management and ski resort planning. It will also play a positive role in enhancing the teaching standards of mass skiing in China.
