Taiwan boasts abundant hot spring resources, making winter soaking a favorite activity among travelers. Here are nine must-visit hot springs in Taiwan for the season — not only offering therapeutic waters but also stunning views, making for an incredibly relaxing experience.

1.Beitou Hot Springs

The Beitou hot spring area broadly includes over ten locations such as the Geothermal Valley, Longfeng, Fenghuang, Hushanli, and Xingyi Road. The spring water is acidic sulfate water, commonly known as white sulfur. It is believed to have pain-relieving and anti-itching effects, and is beneficial for chronic skin diseases, arthritis, and neuralgia. After soaking your feet, you can take a stroll along the old hot spring street next to Beitou Station, exploring a series of nearby attractions around the Beitou River, including Beitou Park, the Beitou Hot Spring Museum, the Beitou Open-Air Hot Spring, Meiting, Beitou Library, Geothermal Valley, and the Beitou Cultural and Creative Museum.

2.Sunrise Hot Springs
 
Located on Green Island, the Sunrise Hot Springs is one of only three submarine hot springs in the world. The spring water seeps from the seawater or groundwater into the earth, then surges out under pressure from the intertidal zone. The water has a slightly salty taste, is non-irritating to human skin, and doesn’t feel sticky or greasy. It’s a world-class geological attraction where you can also enjoy the sunrise and starry night skies.

3.Guguan Hot Springs
 
Guguan Hot Springs, rich in sulfides, is a weak alkaline carbonated spring. Due to its steep terrain, the spring water flows through mountain rocks year-round without drying up. It is said to help improve arthritis, neuralgia, and gastrointestinal disorders. It is also nicknamed the "male-birth hot spring" because after Emperor Meiji of Japan visited and soaked here, it’s said his wife later gave birth to a prince.

4.Rueisuei Hot Springs
 
Rueisuei Hot Springs is a weak alkaline chloride-carbonate spring, rich in minerals, giving it a slight golden hue, hence its nickname “Golden Spring.” When the iron in the water oxidizes upon exposure to air, it forms a yellowish, cloudy layer of crystals on the surface, known as “soup flowers” or “hot spring flowers.”
