Since5the month when registration launched,online interest in the Southwest Division has continued to grow. To date, the number of applicants has reached hundreds, making the competition among participants exceptionally fierce. The contestants all have rich backgrounds and unique skills. There are individual participants as well as representatives from clubs, including Sichuan-based mountaineering enthusiasts such as the Nyima Tribe Alpine Support Team, Chengdu Shanren Outdoor, and Chengdu Gesanghua Donkey Nest. There are also loyal outdoor lovers from all over the country, such as Beijing’s Free and Easy Wanderers and Everyday Upward, Shenyang Monday Outdoor from Liaoning, Yichun Mountaineering Association from Jiangxi, and Kunming Mountaineering and Exploration Association from Yunnan. The event covers a wide geographical area, bringing together visitors from all directions. They gather here for the same mountaineering dream and embrace the most pristine paradise on earth with a shared love for nature.
It is understood that the event is divided into six stages: preliminary selection, advancement, offline activities, sharing and exchange, and finals.5participants only need to register and showcase themselves online at the "Join Me with the Leaves?"?2012 LafumaMountaineering Season event website to take part in the Southwest Division activities. Subsequently, the organizing committee will select30qualified contestants to advance and participate for free in a two-day offline event in the Southwest Division. Together, they will challenge Siguniang Mountain, known as the "Queen of the Eastern Alps," and summit the 5,276-meter-high Second Peak to collect the most beautiful "leaves of the valley and snow-capped peaks."5276At the summit of the 20-meter Second Peak, pluck the most beautiful "leaf of the canyon snow peak."
Sichuan’s Siguniang Mountain Station is the most challenging division in this event. All four of its peaks are above5000meters in elevation, with steep mountain faces that reach straight toward the blue sky. Due tothe high difficulty level of climbing and the year-round snow cover on the summits, the entire journey will thoroughly test the contestants’ physical strength and endurance. Compared to the previous three stops, conquering such high and perilous peaks tests not just physical power but also poses a great challenge to mind and spirit. The mountaineering event not only features a meaningful summit challenge commemorative race,but also includes“the "Search for the Leaf at the Summit"”photo activity, where you can use your eyes and camera to discover surprises, capture exciting moments from the event, and record the stunning scenery of Mount Siguniang. Additionally, to highlight the environmental mission of this event, the organizing committee will organize and encourage participants to take part in the public welfare campaign “Care for the Earth Action:-Leave Only Footprints, Take Away Trash,” integrating outdoor environmental awareness throughout the journey and leaving green footprints along the way.
After the mountaineering event, the sharing and exchange phase for the Southwest Division will begin. This phase aims to provide a platform for sharing and communication through online displays, with the goal of promoting the spirit of sharing among participants.
