To support and promote the development of trail running in China, in September 2013, Tecnica® will once again leverage its unique resources and advantages in Italy to send a second team of 3–4 Chinese athletes to participate in the world’s top ultra-trail event, the “330-kilometer Tor des Géants.”
The Tor des Géants, originating in Italy, is organized by the Valle d’Aosta regional government and has gained acclaim across Europe and the world, ranking among the top global endurance trail races. Each year, over 600 participants take on the challenge of crossing five major mountain ranges in the Italian Alps within just 150 hours, covering a total distance of 330 kilometers and an elevation gain of 24,000 meters.
Tecnica®, which established a presence in China in 2005, has been committed to advancing the sport of trail running in the country and aims to provide Chinese trail running enthusiasts with comfortable, safe, and high-quality running shoes. In 2010, Tecnica® began sponsoring the “330-kilometer Tor des Géants,” offering a platform for trail runners from around the globe to connect and experience an endurance race that combines long distances with high altitudes for the first time. In 2012, the event attracted even more enthusiasts, with all 550 spots filled within just 25 minutes of registration opening, and there remains a waiting list of 2,500 people. In 2012, four athletes representing Tecnica China—Gao Qing, Wang Zichen, Yang Jianguo, and Yu Lei—achieved strong results in the race.
To enable Chinese trail running enthusiasts to experience this race firsthand, Tecnica® has decided to fully sponsor Tecnica trail runner Zeng Huafeng (@Huacheng V) to participate in the event in collaboration with ISPO BEIJING and ACOME, while also offering participation opportunities to 2–3 other passionate trail runners.
