  When I first started cycling, I didn’t take seriously what the veteran riders said about cycling rules. It’s just riding a bike—how strict can it be? But after cycling for over a year, witnessing a few crashes and hearing about many cycling accidents, I gradually understood why we do these things!!!

  1: The helmet is crucial—it can protect your life when it matters most;

  2: Gloves absorb sweat and help you grip the handlebars firmly without slipping;

  3: They shield your eyes from wind and sand, keeping them sharp and clear;

  4: No drinking while cycling—always stay alert and clear-headed;

  5: Spit off the route—if you feel the need, move out of line. Your relief shouldn’t put others at risk;

  6: When taking calls, pull out, slow down, or stop. Calls are important, but safety is more so;

  7: Stay focused—losing concentration on the road can hurt you or your fellow riders;

  8: Use hand signals and verbal cues actively and pass them back—we’re a team, and everyone’s safety matters;

  9: Control your speed at night—even with a bright light, beams are limited. If the road turns rough, make sure you can handle it;

  10: Don’t show off on descents—speed control is key. Go downhill slowly and ride home safely;

  Listen to advice—it goes a long way. When other cyclists share safety tips or point out risky behavior, we should be grateful. Most importantly: ride happily, and return home safely. These are some personal insights to share with everyone.

  Many of these rules are common knowledge—the key is to follow them. Keep them yourself, and encourage others to do the same. Only then can our cycling be: safe!!! healthy!!! and fun!!!
