On November 3, the welcome ceremony for the nationwide large-scale self-drive tour event “Heading South to Discover the Beauty of Hainan,” organized by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports of Hainan Province, took place at the Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal. The event extended a passionate local-style welcome to self-driving tourists and travel enthusiasts arriving from Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu.
Last month, the Hainan Provincial Department of Tourism and Culture launched the nationwide “Heading South to Discover the Beauty of Hainan” large-scale self-drive tour campaign in cities such as Chengdu, extending an invitation for people to explore Hainan by car. During the event, the department also unveiled the top ten self-drive itineraries for 2019 under the “Heading South to Discover the Beauty of Hainan” campaign, along with preferential policies for scenic spots in Hainan during the winter season of 2019.
Li Yinghao, Vice President of the Travel Agency Branch of the Guangdong Self-Driving Tourism Association, and a convoy of several vehicles set off from Guangzhou, crossed the Qiongzhou Strait after a day’s drive, and successfully arrived in Sanya, Hainan. Speaking at the welcome ceremony that day, Li Yinghao said they planned to stay in Hainan for several days to deeply experience the diverse and vibrant tourism culture of the region.
