In response to the approaching Typhoon Soudelor, the Shei-Pa National Park Administration announced today that all hiking routes within the park’s ecological protection zones are temporarily closed to visitors, urging the public not to engage in mountain hiking or tourism activities.
The Central Weather Bureau issued a sea warning for Typhoon Soudelor at 8:30 AM this morning. To prevent potential accidents from visitors entering mountainous areas, the park administration has declared an immediate halt to entry on all hiking routes within the ecological protection zones of Shei-Pa National Park.
The park administration noted that during typhoons, mountain roads are prone to hazards such as falling rocks and landslides when it rains, and urged the public to avoid mountain hiking activities before and after the typhoon’s passage to ensure safety.
As the powerful Typhoon Soudelor approaches, some events in Miaoli County have also been affected and postponed.
Miaoli Post Office announced that the originally scheduled “Nature Connects, Clean Follows – 713 Beach Cleanup” charity event, planned for the 13th at Shuiwei Village Beach in Houlong Township, will be postponed due to the typhoon, with the new date to be announced later.
Additionally, the Miaoli County Government Environmental Protection Bureau’s originally scheduled “Environmental Education Volunteer Training” on the 13th and 14th at the Miaoli County Incineration Plant has also been postponed for safety reasons. 1020711
