Due to heavy rainfall in the Hualien area last night, two helicopter flights were forced to turn back because of the weather. Early this morning, as the skies cleared, six rescue personnel successfully landed at the triangulation station of Panshi Mountain via helicopter and descended the cliff face to carry out the rescue operation. Additional rescue personnel also arrived at the site by helicopter shortly afterward.
The rescued hiker, surnamed Lu, had just completed a hiking trip in Qilai Mountain and was preparing to exit via the Yuewangting trailhead when they accidentally slipped down the forest trail slope. After two days of search and rescue efforts by firefighters, the individual was finally found safe and sound.
