On the 20th, the Tangshan Caofeidian District Tourism Bureau announced that the China・Caofeidian Coastal Wetland Outdoor Sports Festival will be held from June 10 to June 12 at the Caofeidian Wetland Scenic Area and the Caofeidian Industrial Zone, where both domestic and international tourists can fully experience the unique charm of the coastal wetlands.
Themed “Caofeidian Coastal Wetlands, A New Paradise for Outdoor Sports,” during the Dragon Boat Festival period, the organizers will leverage the national AAAA-level Caofeidian Wetland Scenic Area, the Caofeidian Port, the seashore, Tangshan Bay Eco-City, and the new Shougang area—coastal wetlands, emerging industrial zones, and seaside islands—as tourism resources. A variety of themed activities such as outdoor sports and travel route experiences will be launched to promote green, low-carbon, healthy, and eco-friendly travel concepts, attracting outdoor enthusiasts and tourists to explore Caofeidian, enjoy the wetland scenery, and experience healthy sports.
According to reports, during the event, the organizers will host a range of colorful activities including the Caofeidian Wetland Bicycle Cross-Country Race, the Caofei Lake ATV All-Terrain Vehicle Performance Competition, the Caofeidian Wetland Hiking Challenge, and the Caofeidian Wetland Car and Tent Camping Festival, aiming to engage both domestic and international tourists and comprehensively showcase the tourism resources of the Caofeidian District.
Officials from the Caofeidian District Tourism Bureau stated that the Caofeidian Wetland has been hailed by experts from international wetland organizations as “a rare and exceptional wetland resource unique to the north and seldom seen in the country.” The wetland boasts rich and diverse biological resources, with hundreds of thousands of birds gathering here every year. It serves as an important stopover and habitat along the migratory route from Australia to Siberia. With over 95% vegetation coverage, the area has a negative oxygen ion content 70 times higher than normal levels, earning it the title “Nature’s Oxygen Bar.”
It is understood that during the tourism festival, the Caofeidian District Tourism Bureau will hold a press conference for the outdoor sports festival, promote tourism resources, and attract investment for wetland tourism projects, fully showcasing the Caofeidian Wetland Scenic Area—one of the “Top Ten Tourist Attractions in Hebei”—and promoting the district’s distinctive tourism resources.
Located on the coast of the Bohai Sea and at the intersection of the Bohai Rim and Beijing-Tianjin tourism golden routes, the Caofeidian District lies 220 kilometers west of Beijing, 120 kilometers south of Tianjin, 45 kilometers north of Tangshan, 150 kilometers east of Qinhuangdao Port, 10 kilometers south of the national-level economic development zone and circular economy demonstration zone—the Caofeidian Industrial Zone, and 28 kilometers from the deep-water Caofeidian Port. With its superior location and convenient transportation, it falls within the one-hour economic circle of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
