Daxi: At around 5 p.m. on the 12th, the Daxi Police Precinct received a report that five hikers had gone missing while returning from Beichapiantianshan in Fuxing Township that morning. Exhausted, they became lost in the mountains. Fan Zhiqiang, deputy chief of Xinei Police Station, gathered mountain-rescue-trained Aboriginal volunteer police officers familiar with the terrain. At around 9 p.m., the team located the stranded hikers near the Heiwei Sacred Tree Group. They then guided the hikers through pitch-dark mountain paths for nearly four hours before reaching the police station for rest and eventual return home.
