The “Inaugural Wanda Changbai Mountain International Trail Running Challenge” will grandly open on June 29, 2013, at the Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort. On May 25, 2013, the press conference for this trail running event was held at the Beijing International Convention Center. Representatives from Wanda Cultural Industry Group, Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort Management Company, as well as renowned trail runners such as Yun Yanqiao and Xing Ruling, attended the event.
This event is organized by Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort Management Company, featuring two race categories: 50 kilometers and 30 kilometers. The entire trail will take place within the resort, making it the first large-scale international trail running event held within a mountain resort in China. The race will start from the Shaman Square in front of the Changbai Mountain Grand Theater, covering various terrains including asphalt roads, mountain trails, lakesides, golf courses, ski slopes, and continuous uphill mountain sections, all with stunning views of the beautiful Changbai Mountain. The course will traverse the main mountainous areas of the Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort, with the 50-kilometer route featuring an elevation gain of 2,600 meters and the 30-kilometer route an elevation gain of 1,800 meters. Numerous renowned domestic and international athletes, along with over 300 trail runners from across the country, will gather here, sure to ignite a wave of competitive enthusiasm.
The racecourse features a distinctive design. Runners will pass through the Songgu Golf Course lawn, weave through lush pine and birch forests, circle the serene blue Fokulun Lake, ascend the staggered thousand-meter peaks, and take in the resort town’s charming international ambiance before reaching the finish line with a clear view of the Changbai Mountain summit. Here, the snow-covered ski slopes of winter transform into flower-filled, grassy forest paths in summer; where the thrill and speed of skiing is replaced by leisurely strolls amidst green mountains and clear waters in warmer months. The combination of resort life and outdoor sports is truly captivating. Completing the race is not only a new personal challenge for athletes but also a journey of reconnecting with nature and embracing one’s true self. Surrounded by the resort, the dense primeval forests release abundant negative ions, offering participants the chance to breathe in long-missed fresh air and enjoy the exhilaration of running.
