Hermione from the Harry Potter movies is known for her cleverness and wit, often becoming a favorite choice for cosplayers. However, as a generally heroic character, she might not seem quite “festive” enough for Halloween. So, some creative cosplayers have flipped the script, transforming the adorable little maid into a bloody, fanged demon!

On Halloween night, Japanese cosplayer Angelica (@angelica_30_w) showed up at a party in Tokyo’s Shibuya district dressed as a maid. Though her outfit was splattered with blood, she went the extra mile to stand out—and focused on her face: turning her mouth into a horrifying, bloodied grin lined with crooked fangs!

A few days earlier, Angelica had appeared at another cosplay event dressed as Hermione. Her outfit and behavior were perfectly normal back then—perhaps a bit of a rehearsal before Halloween.

If you dare to take a close look at her makeup, you’ll see that nearly everything below her eyes is covered with special effects makeup—even her nostrils are hidden, creating the effect of a large patch of skin being torn away. She also wore white contact lenses. You can imagine how uncomfortable it must be to wear this makeup for long periods. In fact, she posted on Twitter that night saying she couldn’t even eat, and drinking water was incredibly difficult!

Tokyo’s Shibuya (also spelled Shibu-ya) has long been a hotspot for young people, and during Halloween it becomes a paradise for cosplayers. All kinds of “monsters and demons” come out in full force to gather in the streets and celebrate.
